Paying solemn homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, DMK president M.K. Stalin paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, who led India's historic struggle for freedom through non-violent resistance and moral courage. Stalin urged citizens to rededicate themselves to establishing an egalitarian, peaceful, and harmonious society that honors diversity and constitutional equality. He emphasized that Gandhi's core vision centered on empowering decentralized village republics as the true beating heart of the Indian nation.
Stalin highlighted the acute tragedy that on Gandhi Jayanti, the ruling regimes at the Centre and in the state were actively dismantling rural self-reliance by imposing anti-farmer agricultural laws and suppressing democratic Gram Sabha assemblies. He noted that true reverence for Gandhi's memory lies not in ceremonial speeches, but in defending peasant livelihoods, protecting rural lands from corporate monopolies, and resisting policies that exploit agricultural labor. Stalin reaffirmed the DMK's total solidarity with farming families across the state and country.
Stalin called upon the people of Tamil Nadu to resist authoritarian central policies. He pledged that the DMK will continue fighting relentlessly to protect rural democracy and agrarian rights.
