DMK president M.K. Stalin participated directly in a massive Makkal Sabha gathering organized at Puduchatram village in Tiruvallur district, joining hundreds of local farmers, agricultural workers, and village residents. The open-air assembly was convened as an alternative democratic forum after the AIADMK administration abruptly cancelled officially scheduled Gandhi Jayanti Gram Sabhas under the cynical pretext of pandemic regulations, deliberately preventing rural local bodies from adopting resolutions condemning the Union government's farm laws.
Addressing the gathering, Stalin emphasized that village republics represent the constitutional foundation of Indian democracy, and no authoritarian executive decree could suppress the legitimate voice of the peasantry. Local farmers unanimously adopted resolutions demanding the unconditional repeal of the central farm enactments, warning that corporate dominance in agricultural trade would destroy smallholder farming and dismantle public procurement systems. Stalin commended the villagers for courageously exercising their democratic rights despite bureaucratic threats and police surveillance.
Stalin pledged that the DMK would take the voice of Puduchatram's farmers across the state. He vowed to sustain the statewide agrarian struggle until farmers' rights, fair prices, and agricultural autonomy were completely protected from corporate exploitation.
