DMK president M.K. Stalin announced that he would inaugurate a major evening torchlight march organized by the DMK women's wing in Chennai to demand justice for the Hathras gang rape victim. Stalin stated that the procession, led by DMK women's wing secretary and Member of Parliament Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, would march from the Rajiv Gandhi statue in Guindy toward Raj Bhavan. He noted that the rally aimed to bring national attention to the horrific caste-based assault and administrative cover-up in Uttar Pradesh.
Stalin declared that the burning torches carried by women cadres would illuminate the path of righteous struggle and burn away systemic abuses committed by callous governing authorities. He emphasized that the protest was not only an expression of solidarity with the victim's grieving family, but also an urgent message of hope to citizens resisting authoritarian oppression. Stalin noted that when constitutional authorities fail to protect daughters of the nation, public protest becomes a democratic duty.
Stalin appealed to party cadres and citizens to participate actively in the peaceful demonstration. He resolved to ensure that the demand for women's dignity resonates powerfully across India.
