DMK president M.K. Stalin welcomed the Union government's decision to include Tamil among the eligible qualification languages for the Archaeological Survey of India's postgraduate diploma program at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute of Archaeology. The initial admission notification had deliberately excluded classical Tamil while permitting several other languages, triggering widespread outrage and vigorous political protests led by the DMK and linguistic scholars across Tamil Nadu. Stalin noted that Delhi was compelled to rectify its discriminatory omission due to unified regional resistance.
Stalin declared that languages represent the vital cultural foundation of India's civilizational diversity and federal structure. He asserted that classical Tamil possesses unparalleled antiquarian literature, inscriptions, and epigraphical wealth, making its initial exclusion from archaeological scholarship both absurd and ideologically biased. Stalin cautioned central institutions against continuing their stepmotherly treatment toward non-Hindi languages and southern heritage traditions.
Stalin urged the Union government to abandon subtle cultural imposition and treat all constitutional languages with equal dignity and institutional patronage. He reiterated the DMK's unwavering commitment to fiercely defending Tamil language rights, ancient archaeological heritage, and linguistic parity across all national institutions.
