DMK president M.K. Stalin demanded that Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami immediately revoke a newly issued government order that drastically reduced the upper age limit for direct recruitment of school teachers from fifty-seven years to forty and forty-five years. Stalin explained that this arbitrary executive decision would ruin the public school education sector and permanently snatch away employment opportunities from qualified job seekers across Tamil Nadu.
Stalin pointed out that over ten lakh trained candidates had successfully passed the Teacher Eligibility Test and waited for years in extreme hardship due to the AIADMK regime's prolonged failure to conduct regular teacher recruitment drives. By abruptly slashing the age eligibility ceiling, the administration had plunged the careers of hundreds of thousands of experienced candidates into darkness. Stalin described the policy as cruel, irrational, and completely detached from the reality of widespread rural unemployment.
Stalin insisted that the government restore the original age eligibility norms and initiate transparent teacher appointments immediately. He pledged that a future DMK administration would protect candidate rights, expand employment avenues, and prioritize comprehensive public school education reforms across Tamil Nadu.
