DMK president M.K. Stalin sharply questioned Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami regarding his unpublicized meeting with Governor Banwarilal Purohit concerning Anna University's Institute of Eminence status. Stalin highlighted that Anna University Vice-Chancellor M.K. Surappa had written directly to the Union government seeking IoE status despite clear absence of any statutory guarantee protecting Tamil Nadu's historic sixty-nine percent reservation policy in faculty recruitment and admissions.

Stalin demanded to know whether the Chief Minister had met the Governor to covertly facilitate central approval for the IoE scheme, thereby undermining state legislative control and social equity. He accused the AIADMK leadership of maintaining a clandestine understanding with central authorities and the Vice-Chancellor to advance a saffronization agenda within premier state institutions. Stalin asserted that allowing centralized restructuring would jeopardize affordable engineering education for poor rural youth.

Stalin warned the state administration that the DMK would launch intense statewide public agitation if the government compromised on reservation entitlements or state university jurisdiction. He resolved that Anna University's academic integrity, public accessibility, and federal autonomy must be protected at all costs against unwarranted centralized interference.
