DMK president M.K. Stalin condemned the BJP-led Union government for arguing before the Supreme Court that it could not provide twenty-seven percent reservation for Other Backward Classes in all-India quota medical seats. Stalin pointed out that while the Centre denied constitutionally mandated quotas to backward classes, it simultaneously redirected reserved banking sector positions meant for OBC, SC, and ST candidates toward the Economically Weaker Sections category. He described these deliberate actions as a direct assault on the foundations of social justice.
Stalin warned that the central administration was systematically dismantling progressive affirmative action policies won through decades of grassroots struggle. He noted that the DMK had fought historic legal battles before the Madras High Court to establish OBC reservation rights in central pool medical admissions. Stalin stressed that backward class communities across India were being deprived of thousands of legitimate medical and banking opportunities due to central intransigence.
Stalin called upon all regional and national political forces committed to social equity to unite in joint struggle. He asserted that collective parliamentary and legal resistance was essential to safeguard affirmative action and defeat discriminatory central policies.
