DMK president M.K. Stalin termed Governor Banwarilal Purohit's failure to grant assent to the 7.5 percent medical reservation bill and Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami's passive silence a monumental betrayal of government school students. Stalin pointed out that the unanimous legislative enactment was specifically designed to remedy the severe exclusion caused by the NEET examination, which systematically marginalizes underprivileged rural pupils. He recalled how the Governor, Chief Minister, and BJP alliance had previously diluted and quietly buried Tamil Nadu's NEET exemption bills behind closed doors.
Stalin cautioned that the same unconstitutional stalling tactic was now being repeated to jeopardize the 7.5 percent quota as national medical counseling approached. He condemned the Chief Minister for refusing to confront the Governor, accusing the AIADMK leadership of subordinating state legislative sovereignty to central political interests. Stalin demanded that the Governor immediately approve the bill without any further delay so that qualifying government school candidates could secure admissions for the current academic session.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK will not remain a quiet observer while underprivileged students are denied justice. He warned of statewide protests if assent was delayed further.
