DMK president M.K. Stalin wrote a formal letter to Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, urging him to grant immediate assent to the bill providing 7.5 percent preferential reservation in medical admissions for government school students. Emphasizing the collective urgency felt across the state, Stalin stressed that qualifying candidates from rural and economically disadvantaged families were anxiously awaiting the formal commencement of admission counseling. He stated that further delay by the gubernatorial office would severely disrupt the academic calendar and deprive deserving state students of medical seats.
In a constructive democratic gesture, Stalin declared that the DMK was fully prepared to join hands with the ruling AIADMK government to launch a coordinated bipartisan struggle to secure the Governor's approval. He urged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to convene an all-party consultation meeting immediately and announce collective protest measures against gubernatorial obstructionism. Stalin noted that when fundamental social justice and student futures are at stake, political parties must transcend factional rivalries to present an unyielding front.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK will lead the agitation from the frontlines if the state government fails to uphold legislative supremacy.
