DMK president M.K. Stalin announced that the DMK will hold a massive demonstration in front of Raj Bhavan in Chennai on October 24 to demand immediate gubernatorial assent for the 7.5 percent preferential medical reservation bill for government school pupils. Stalin condemned the AIADMK administration for betraying rural students by failing to exert constitutional pressure on Governor Banwarilal Purohit, who had withheld approval for over forty days. He stated that although he invited Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to lead a joint bipartisan delegation to the Governor, the Chief Minister lacked the political courage to defend his own government's legislation.

Stalin emphasized that the prolonged delay jeopardized the dreams of hundreds of underprivileged students who had cleared NEET despite severe socioeconomic constraints. With national medical counseling dates approaching, gubernatorial indecision threatened to force admission counseling without the benefit of the reservation, effectively shutting government school candidates out of state medical colleges. Stalin asserted that when the ruling dispensation surrenders state interests, the DMK has a democratic obligation to take the battle to the streets.

Stalin called upon students, parents, teachers, and democratic organizations to join the October 24 agitation to protect social justice and educational equity.
