DMK president M.K. Stalin condemned the glaring social injustice evident in recent recruitment drives conducted by the State Bank of India and Oil India Limited, where Economically Weaker Sections candidates were assigned substantially lower qualifying cutoff scores than Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes candidates. Stalin pointed out that fixing cutoffs in this discriminatory manner perverted the foundational purpose of constitutional affirmative action, which was designed to remedy centuries of systemic social exclusion rather than provide privileges to upper-caste applicants.
Stalin criticized the Union Bharatiya Janata Party government for continuously dismantling reservation principles and subverting equal opportunity under the guise of the ten percent economic reservation quota. He also censured Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for meekly acquiescing to central policies that disadvantage backward and marginalized youth from Tamil Nadu in central public sector employment. Stalin warned that the public would not remain passive spectators while social justice rights were systematically dismantled by central agencies.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK will persistently resist the discriminatory application of EWS quotas both in parliament and before the courts to safeguard constitutional reservation principles.
