DMK president M.K. Stalin led a statewide protest demonstration in Chennai, mobilizing party functionaries and alliance leaders against the unconstitutional delay by Governor Banwarilal Purohit in approving the 7.5 percent quota legislation. The demonstration near Saidapet and Raj Bhavan highlighted the critical plight of government school students who qualified in NEET but faced exclusion due to administrative inaction. Stalin underscored that the unanimous bill passed by the state legislature represented the collective democratic will of Tamil Nadu, which the Governor had no constitutional right to withhold indefinitely.
Stalin accused the AIADMK government of total complicity, asserting that the state administration's refusal to exert pressure on the Governor revealed its hollow commitment to social justice. He pointed out that while underprivileged students endured sleepless nights worrying about their futures, ministers remained preoccupied with political self-preservation. Stalin stated that the DMK's mobilization aimed to shatter this administrative apathy and compel the Governor to respect legislative supremacy.
The protest witnessed impassioned participation from youth, teachers, and parents of medical aspirants. Stalin concluded by affirming that the DMK will persist in its struggle until every deserving government school student secures admission.
