DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed a massive protest rally near Raj Bhavan in Chennai, fiercely condemning Governor Banwarilal Purohit and the ruling AIADMK administration for deliberately delaying assent to the 7.5 percent medical quota bill. Speaking before a vast gathering of party leaders, legislators, and student supporters, Stalin emphasized that the peaceful demonstration represented the righteous anger of Tamil Nadu's marginalized students. He pointed out that while government school pupils had cleared the rigorous NEET examination through immense personal sacrifice, gubernatorial inaction was obstructing their medical admissions.
Stalin criticized Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for acting as a docile subordinate to central authorities instead of demanding gubernatorial compliance with the assembly's unanimous decision. He noted that the delay appeared calculated to force the commencement of medical admissions without implementing the quota, thereby denying seats to hundreds of deserving rural candidates. Stalin stated that the Dravidian movement would never permit constitutional authorities to extinguish the hard-earned rights of underprivileged communities.
Stalin warned that if the bill was not approved immediately, the DMK would escalate agitations across every district in Tamil Nadu. He reiterated that social justice remains non-negotiable.
