DMK president M.K. Stalin led a massive demonstration outside Raj Bhavan in Chennai, condemning Governor Banwarilal Purohit for stalling the 7.5 percent preferential reservation bill for government school pupils for over forty days. Addressing thousands of party workers and student welfare activists, Stalin asserted that the Governor's indifference was enabled by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami's lack of courage to assert state legislative authority. He declared that even if the ruling AIADMK hesitated to challenge gubernatorial injustice, the DMK would fearlessly champion students' constitutional rights.
Stalin highlighted the acute urgency of the issue, pointing out that national medical counseling deadlines were rapidly approaching while qualifying rural students remained in deep despair. He stressed that the legislation had been passed unanimously by the state assembly to rectify systemic disadvantages faced by impoverished students under the NEET examination regime. Stalin cautioned that gubernatorial delays must not be allowed to scuttle the legislative will of seven crore Tamil citizens.
Stalin declared that the Raj Bhavan demonstration was only the beginning of a sustained statewide struggle. He vowed that the DMK will intensify protests until complete justice is secured.
