DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the AIADMK government for filing a police case against Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi president and Chidambaram Member of Parliament Thol. Thirumavalavan. Stalin pointed out that Thirumavalavan was addressing historical gender oppression and the denial of women's rights legitimized under ancient texts like the Manusmriti, echoing the rationalist consciousness fostered by Periyar E.V. Ramasamy and B.R. Ambedkar. He criticized state authorities for targeting the Dalit leader while ignoring communal reactionaries who deliberately distorted his speech to incite religious hatred.
Stalin asserted that the police action against Thirumavalavan demonstrated the AIADMK regime's complete ideological surrender to right-wing sectarian forces. He emphasized that discussing historical literature and championing women's dignity, educational empowerment, and equality are protected exercises of democratic free speech that have shaped Tamil Nadu's progressive social ethos for a century. Suppressing progressive voices while shielding communal instigators reflects a dangerous administrative bias that damages social harmony.
Stalin affirmed that the Secular Progressive Alliance stands completely united in unwavering solidarity with Thirumavalavan. He demanded the immediate withdrawal of the politically motivated and fabricated police case against the elected parliamentarian without any delay.
