DMK president M.K. Stalin questioned the rationale behind the AIADMK government's decision to dilute the judicial commission's recommendation of ten percent preferential reservation for government school students down to 7.5 percent. The commission headed by retired High Court Judge P. Kalaiyarasan had objectively assessed the socioeconomic disadvantages faced by rural students and formally recommended a ten percent quota in medical admissions. Stalin demanded to know under whose political pressure Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami curtailed the quota percentage, only to subsequently fail in obtaining gubernatorial assent even for the diluted measure.
Stalin criticized the state leadership for its total administrative impotence in confronting Governor Banwarilal Purohit's prolonged inaction on the unanimously passed bill. He emphasized that the AIADMK's unwillingness to defend the state legislature's sovereignty had pushed hundreds of deserving government school candidates into deep distress as counseling dates loomed. Stalin declared that the DMK's agitation on the streets would continue unabated, promising that voters would put a definitive end to AIADMK misrule in six months' time.
Stalin reaffirmed that a future DMK government will uphold social justice with uncompromising resolve and guarantee equitable access to professional courses.
