DMK president M.K. Stalin welcomed the Tamil Nadu government's issuance of an executive order to implement the 7.5 percent preferential reservation for government school students in medical admissions for the current academic session. However, Stalin questioned why the state administration took forty-five days to exercise executive authority under Article 162 of the Constitution, allowing weeks of acute psychological agony for aspiring rural students. He pointed out that the government only acted after the DMK organized massive statewide demonstrations and mounted relentless political pressure.
Stalin criticized the AIADMK leadership for initially delaying proactive measures and passively waiting for gubernatorial consent while counseling dates drew near. He stressed that had the government displayed resolve earlier, hundreds of students from economically disadvantaged families would have been spared unnecessary emotional trauma and procedural uncertainty. Stalin insisted that the state administration must now act swiftly by publishing the official merit list and releasing detailed counseling schedules without any further bureaucratic hesitation.
Stalin reiterated that the DMK will remain permanently vigilant in defending educational equity. He assured students that the party will continue fighting to eliminate all institutional hurdles obstructing access to professional courses.
