DMK president M.K. Stalin sharply criticized the ruling AIADMK administration following the partial collapse of the under-construction Namakkal Government Medical College building, a flagship project awarded under a 350-crore rupee public tender. Stalin pointed out that a major portion of the structure gave way during active construction, exposing alarming compromises in material quality, structural engineering oversight, and building safety norms. He asserted that the incident clearly demonstrated how systematic commission extraction and political kickbacks had completely overshadowed public safety under the incumbent regime.
Stalin accused state ministers and department officials of prioritizing illicit profits over infrastructural integrity, warning that such negligence could have caused catastrophic loss of human life had the facility been operational. He issued a stern warning that once the DMK assumes power after the 2021 legislative assembly elections, all fraudulent tenders would undergo independent forensic audits and all culpable contractors, bureaucrats, and political beneficiaries would face strict criminal prosecution.
Stalin demanded an immediate independent probe by structural engineering experts into all newly commissioned hospital construction works across Tamil Nadu. He pledged that public funds would be strictly guarded under transparent DMK administration.
