DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed the Thamilagam Meetpom election campaign public meeting in Pudukkottai district, outlining the Secular Progressive Alliance's governance blueprint ahead of the 2021 Tamil Nadu legislative assembly elections. Speaking to large gatherings of party cadres and alliance partners, Stalin criticized the ruling AIADMK government for decades of administrative neglect, agrarian distress, and failure to upgrade essential rural infrastructure. He highlighted the distinctive challenges of Pudukkottai, including declining tank irrigation systems, unresolved dryland farming woes, and inadequate rural industrialization.
Stalin pointed out that consecutive AIADMK ministries had compromised Tamil Nadu's financial stability and autonomy by yielding unconditionally to Union government dictates. He emphasized that essential civic projects in central districts were stalled due to bureaucratic apathy and corrupt contract allocations. Stalin pledged that an incoming DMK administration would revive water restoration initiatives, provide comprehensive price guarantees for farmers, and fund decentralized industrial estates to generate employment for educated youth.
The public meeting witnessed strong support from local farmers' associations and community representatives. Stalin urged party functionaries to engage directly with rural families, building grassroots solidarity to secure a sweeping democratic change.
