DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly criticized the AIADMK government for orchestrating an afterthought consultation exercise regarding school reopening, pointing out that the administration staged public meetings only to conceal that it was forced to defer reopenings following the DMK's sharp objections. Stalin emphasized that responsible governance required extensive stakeholder consultations with parents, medical experts, and teachers before unilaterally announcing reopening dates, rather than enacting hasty dramas after creating widespread panic.
Highlighting alarming developments in neighboring Andhra Pradesh, where hundreds of students and teachers tested positive for COVID-19 immediately after educational institutions resumed physical operations, Stalin questioned whether Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami was aware of these serious contagion risks. He asserted that gambling with the health and safety of young children reflects gross administrative incompetence and lack of empathy. Stalin stressed that until public health conditions stabilize, distance education and digital learning support must be prioritized.
Stalin called upon the government to cease confusing parents and focus on creating foolproof sanitization protocols and medical safety infrastructure. He reaffirmed the DMK's unwavering priority to protect child welfare and ensure responsible educational administration.
