DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound outrage and grief over the brutal murder of television journalist Moses, who was hacked to death by anti-social elements in Kundrathur near Chennai after fearlessly exposing illegal drug sales and unauthorized land encroachments. Highlighting shocking police negligence, Stalin pointed out that Moses had lodged formal complaints regarding direct threats to his life at the local police station, yet authorities failed to take preventive measures or offer protection.
Stalin questioned whether Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami's government was actively shielding criminal syndicates and illicit drug mafias at the expense of citizen safety and freedom of the press. He stated that the coldblooded assassination of a working reporter highlights the total collapse of law and order and intelligence networks in Tamil Nadu. Stalin demanded that all perpetrators involved in the conspiracy be arrested immediately and prosecuted under stringent legal provisions.
Stalin reiterated that the DMK will firmly stand beside working journalists and defend the constitutional right to free expression. He urged the state administration to provide substantial compensation and support to the bereaved family while instituting robust institutional protections for field journalists.
