DMK president M.K. Stalin urged the Tamil Nadu government to conduct medical admissions counselling exclusively through a transparent, secure online process, warning that convening physical, in-person counselling sessions poses severe infection hazards amid looming threats of a second COVID-19 wave. Questioning whether Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar and Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami had thoughtfully considered the health risks confronting thousands of young applicants and their accompanying parents, Stalin emphasized that administrative negligence must not endanger lives.
Stalin pointed out that assembling large crowds of students from diverse districts inside enclosed auditoriums creates dangerous super-spreader conditions, particularly when family members travel extensive distances on public transport. He argued that modern digital infrastructure and secure admission portals should be leveraged to ensure seamless, merit-based seat allotment with complete public transparency. Stalin stressed that comprehensive online counselling would guarantee absolute integrity, prevent backdoor seat manipulation, and spare impoverished rural students exhausting travel expenses.
Calling upon the health department to prioritize student safety without compromising admission schedules, Stalin demanded the immediate implementation of digital counselling protocols. He affirmed that the DMK will persistently champion progressive administrative modernization and student welfare across Tamil Nadu.
