DMK president M.K. Stalin delivered a hard-hitting rebuttal to Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami's unfounded claims questioning the DMK's historic contributions to state water management and irrigation infrastructure. Highlighting concrete historical records, Stalin pointed out that successive DMK administrations under Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had constructed forty-two major dams across Tamil Nadu, laying the foundational water security network that sustains modern agriculture and municipal drinking water needs across multiple river basins.
Stalin challenged Palaniswami to disclose how many new dams his administration had conceived, funded, and completed during its tenure, accusing the Chief Minister of hurling baseless falsehoods to mask his government's administrative failure. He noted that awards bestowed by central ministries upon the AIADMK government were merely transactional tokens born out of partisan coalition bargaining rather than genuine governance excellence. Stalin stressed that the discerning public clearly recognizes who built lasting irrigation assets and who merely looted desilting funds under cosmetic schemes.
Reaffirming the DMK's legacy of pioneering comprehensive river valley projects and rural water harvesting initiatives, Stalin pledged that an incoming DMK administration would systematically modernize regional canal networks, desilt major reservoirs, and protect state water resources.
