DMK president M.K. Stalin expressed profound sorrow and heartfelt condolences over the tragic death of firefighters Sivarajan and Krishnamoorthy, who lost their lives while battling a massive commercial fire that engulfed a multi-story textile showroom in Madurai. Paying tribute to their heroic sacrifice, Stalin recognized the courage of emergency personnel who risk their lives to rescue trapped citizens and protect public property during hazardous disaster situations.
Stalin urged the fire and rescue services department to review operational protocols and enforce rigorous safety precautions to safeguard frontline personnel during high-risk urban rescue operations. He emphasized that the state government must immediately provide a solatium of one crore rupees each to the families of the two deceased firefighters, alongside secure government employment for an eligible family member. Stalin stressed that financial assistance must be disbursed without bureaucratic delay to support the grieving dependents facing sudden bereavement.
Calling upon the district administration to enforce strict fire safety compliance across all commercial complexes in urban centers, Stalin affirmed that the DMK stands in solidarity with the state's courageous emergency workers and their families, urging the government to guarantee permanent security for frontline personnel.
