DMK president M.K. Stalin extended warm greetings to media professionals across the nation on the occasion of National Press Day, commending journalists for their indispensable role in sustaining democratic values and fostering informed civic discourse. He stated that in contemporary times, when foundational constitutional principles such as democracy, equality, social justice, and secular harmony are increasingly mocked and challenged by reactionary forces, the responsibility of the press to advocate fearlessly for public truth becomes paramount.
Stalin praised journalists who dedicate their professional lives to public service, highlighting that a courageous, independent media acts as an essential watchdog against executive overreach, corruption, and administrative apathy. He noted that the Dravidian movement has always maintained profound respect for journalism, recalling how iconic leaders including Periyar, Arignar Anna, and Kalaignar Karunanidhi utilized powerful journalistic platforms to awaken social consciousness and advance progressive reforms across Tamil Nadu.
Reaffirming the DMK's steadfast commitment to defending media freedom and the safety of working reporters, Stalin urged journalists to uphold ethical integrity and amplify the voices of marginalized communities. He wished the media fraternity continued strength in championing democratic rights.
