DMK president M.K. Stalin extended warm greetings to the fishing community across Tamil Nadu on World Fisheries Day, wishing coastal families lasting prosperity, sustainable livelihood growth, and expanding employment opportunities. He recognized the immense economic contributions and resilience of traditional fishermen who brave difficult maritime conditions daily to sustain the state's marine economy. Stalin emphasized that safeguarding the dignity, welfare, and security of fishing hamlets remains an uncompromised commitment of the Dravidian movement.

Highlighting the grave vulnerabilities confronting coastal workers, Stalin expressed serious concern over recurring apprehensions, physical assaults, and vessel confiscations perpetrated by the Sri Lankan Navy in Palk Bay waters. He called upon both the Union and Tamil Nadu governments to take coordinated diplomatic and defense measures to shield Tamil fishermen and their fishing trawlers from unprovoked external aggression. Stalin stressed that authorities must establish secure maritime corridors and provide upgraded deep-sea navigation aids to protect coastal workers.

Stalin reiterated that an incoming DMK administration would prioritize comprehensive coastal infrastructure, modern cold storage networks, fair procurement prices, and enhanced disaster relief compensations for fishing families across the state.
