DMK president M.K. Stalin dispatched an urgent letter to Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, highlighting the distressing plight of meritorious government school students who secured medical college admissions under the 7.5 percent preferential reservation but were compelled to decline their allotments due to inability to afford steep private college fees. Stalin pointed out that delayed and ambiguous announcements from the state administration regarding tuition assistance had caused irreparable harm during initial counseling rounds, forcing economically deprived rural students to walk away from their hard-won dreams of becoming physicians.
Stalin urged the Chief Minister to intervene personally and rectify this administrative failure by ensuring that all students who were forced to forgo seats or opt for waiting lists are immediately granted admission with full government fee waivers. He stressed that affirmative reservation loses its purpose if impoverished beneficiaries are left without financial support to pay private institutional charges. Stalin demanded that the government issue clear policy instructions guaranteeing complete state coverage of tuition, hostel, and examination fees for every 7.5 percent quota beneficiary.
The letter received widespread backing from educationists, parent associations, and civil society groups. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will persistently defend the educational rights of underprivileged children.
