Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the Union BJP government and the state AIADMK administration for systematically undermining the 50 percent reservation entitlement for in-service government doctors in super-specialty medical admissions. Stalin criticized central authorities for aggressively arguing against in-service medical quotas in court, while castigating Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami's government for needlessly delaying admission counseling and betraying state medical personnel. He highlighted that in-service quotas represent an earned right that directly strengthens Tamil Nadu's reputed public healthcare infrastructure across rural and tertiary hospitals.

Stalin emphasized that state government doctors serve tirelessly in primary health centers and district headquarters hospitals, often in difficult geographical conditions, to deliver life-saving healthcare to the poor. Depriving dedicated medical officers of advanced specialization opportunities disincentivizes rural service and weakens institutional capability throughout the state health system. Stalin demanded that the Tamil Nadu government shed its administrative lethargy, conduct transparent counseling immediately, and firmly defend the 50 percent in-service quota as an non-negotiable policy right.

Government doctors associations widely supported Stalin's firm stance. Stalin reaffirmed the DMK's steadfast commitment to defending in-service medical reservations.
