கடலூர் மாணவியர் வழக்கில் அவர்களுக்கு இடம் வழங்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டு வருவதாக அரசு உறுதியளித்திருக்கிறது.

Editorial context

DMK president M.K. Stalin demanded that the Tamil Nadu government immediately fulfill its official undertaking to secure medical college admissions for government school students eligible under the 7.5 percent preferential reservation. Stalin highlighted that several deserving candidates, including two female students from Cuddalore district, had been relegated to waiting lists simply because their impoverished families could not afford exorbitant private college tuition fees. He criticized the state administration for issuing ambiguous circulars that created acute confusion, mental distress, and financial despair among hardworking rural aspirants.

Stalin noted that during high court hearings regarding the Cuddalore students' petition, the state government had formally assured the judiciary that concrete remedial steps were underway to provide them seats. He urged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to execute that solemn commitment without delay, ensuring that no meritorious government school student is denied a medical seat due to administrative inertia or economic inability. Stalin stressed that affirmative action must be accompanied by full state financial sponsorship to be meaningful.

The demand amplified calls from student organizations and parent collectives across the state. Stalin reiterated the DMK's steadfast support for equitable medical education access.
