DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a dedicated message on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, recalling the pioneering welfare initiatives established under former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. Stalin highlighted that the previous DMK administration had created an exclusive welfare board for differently abled individuals, introduced the transformative Kannoli eye-care scheme, and granted complete fee waivers for higher education. He underscored that Karunanidhi personally retained the disability welfare portfolio to ensure compassionate, direct administrative oversight and dignified social inclusion for every beneficiary.

Stalin pledged that an incoming DMK government would guarantee uninterrupted fulfillment of all rights, entitlements, and accessibility infrastructure required by persons with disabilities. He criticized the incumbent AIADMK administration for neglecting monthly pension disbursals, delaying assistive devices, and ignoring longstanding accessibility demands across government transport and public buildings. Stalin emphasized that real social justice requires proactive state assistance that eliminates physical and institutional barriers to education, employment, and public life.

Disability rights organizations across Tamil Nadu welcomed Stalin's reaffirmation of comprehensive welfare support. Stalin reiterated that empathetic and inclusive governance remains a cornerstone of the DMK's social agenda.
