DMK president M.K. Stalin undertook an intensive field inspection across flood-ravaged rural tracts in Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, and Thiruvarur districts, assessing extensive monsoon damages and interacting directly with distressed farming communities. Stalin criticized the AIADMK administration for failing to deploy official rescue and relief machinery fully, noting that waterlogged agricultural fields and marooned village hamlets had received negligible administrative support. He questioned whether the disaster compensation requested from the Union government was actually reaching the state or remaining merely on paper.
Stalin urged Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to immediately sanction first-phase interim relief funds from state reserves without waiting indefinitely for central releases. He assured the state government that if the Chief Minister firmly confronted the Union government to secure legitimate disaster allocations for Tamil Nadu, the DMK would provide complete, constructive opposition backing. Stalin highlighted that smallholder farmers and agricultural laborers in the Cauvery delta urgently require immediate monetary compensation to salvage damaged samba paddy crops and rebuild damaged domestic dwellings.
Local farmer collectives welcomed Stalin's direct field presence. Stalin insisted that state authorities expedite crop damage evaluations without bureaucratic delay.
