DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the AIADMK government for persistently disregarding the legitimate grievances of state government doctors regarding dynamic career progression and periodic pay increases. Highlighting the stark disparity in professional remuneration, Stalin pointed out that while Union government doctors attain pay scale revisions within four years of service, Tamil Nadu government doctors are forced to wait fifteen years to achieve equivalent pay increments. He criticized Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for exhibiting callous indifference toward medical personnel who worked tirelessly on the frontlines throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stalin emphasized that the dedication of state medical officers forms the backbone of Tamil Nadu's reputed public healthcare delivery system, which serves rural and low-income populations effectively. He stressed that failing to fulfill longstanding commitments regarding time-bound promotions and service parity demoralizes healthcare professionals and weakens public institutional capacity. Stalin demanded that the government immediately hold constructive discussions with medical associations and implement fair salary structures without administrative hesitation.
The statement was widely welcomed by government medical associations and public health workers across Tamil Nadu. Stalin reaffirmed the DMK's steadfast support for healthcare workers' rights.
