DMK president M.K. Stalin conducted an extensive inspection across rain-affected neighborhoods in his Kolathur assembly constituency, distributing essential relief materials to 3,500 residents impacted by recent heavy monsoon downpours and waterlogging. Building upon earlier relief efforts initiated on December 7, Stalin directly visited low-lying settlements, inspected inundated streets, and interacted with families coping with household damage and power disruptions. He oversaw the distribution of dry rations, blankets, clothing, and primary medical kits to vulnerable households.
Stalin criticized the municipal administration and the ruling AIADMK government for inadequate pre-monsoon desilting and sluggish stormwater drain infrastructure, which left dense residential pockets vulnerable to severe inundation. He noted that grassroots DMK volunteers had mobilized across Chennai to provide continuous community assistance, drinking water, and cooked meals to marooned families where official machinery remained absent. Stalin instructed local party functionaries to maintain round-the-clock coordination with relief centers until floodwaters receded completely.
Local residents and community welfare groups welcomed the immediate humanitarian intervention and sustained constituency engagement. Stalin reiterated that responsive civic governance and robust municipal infrastructure remain essential to safeguard Chennai from recurring urban flooding.
