DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a strongly worded statement condemning the Union government for imposing consecutive price increases on domestic cooking gas cylinders, totaling a steep one hundred rupees within a fifteen-day span. Stalin pointed out that while working-class families and low-income households were struggling to cope with severe economic distress, job cuts, and reduced wages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, central authorities had chosen to inflict punitive financial burdens rather than extending compassionate relief.
Stalin demanded that the central government immediately revoke the unjustified tariff hike and supply domestic cooking gas at pre-December rates to protect strained household budgets. He warned that if the ruling authorities persisted with insensitive fiscal policies, they would face the unstoppable democratic wrath of mothers and homemakers across the country. Stalin also criticized the AIADMK state leadership for failing to register an official protest against arbitrary price increases that hit working-class women hardest.
The statement drew widespread support from consumer protection associations, domestic worker unions, and women self-help groups throughout Tamil Nadu. Stalin reaffirmed the DMK commitment to championing price stability and protecting basic household necessities from inflationary exploitation.
