DMK president M.K. Stalin voiced sharp criticism of the AIADMK administration following Right to Information disclosures revealing that the state government had failed to formally transfer required land parcels for constructing the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Madurai. Stalin questioned why a premier national healthcare project announced five years earlier remained stalled, asking whether covert bureaucratic bargaining or executive lethargy had blocked progress. He condemned the regime of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for administrative incompetence that deprived southern Tamil Nadu of advanced healthcare infrastructure.
Stalin pointed out that millions of patients across southern districts depend on Madurai for specialized tertiary medical care, forcing families to undertake expensive journeys to Chennai or Bengaluru for advanced treatments. He called upon both the Union and state governments to abandon mutual blame games, conclude pending administrative formalities immediately, and begin physical hospital construction without further evasion. Stalin pledged that an incoming DMK government will expedite all necessary state clearances, providing full infrastructural support to ensure the swift commissioning of Madurai AIIMS.
The exposure triggered widespread condemnation from medical associations, civil society networks, and regional developmental forums. Stalin reaffirmed his dedication to modernizing public medical institutions across all regions.
