DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the AIADMK state government for systematically dismantling the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board through covert, piecemeal privatization initiatives. Stalin criticized the administration for outsourcing operational maintenance, substation management, and sub-divisional administrative tasks across newly constructed power distribution facilities to commercial contractors. He pointed out that handing over critical public infrastructure to private corporate entities strips educated Tamil youth and technically qualified engineering apprentices of secure public sector employment opportunities.
Stalin announced the DMK complete solidarity and operational support for power utility employees and trade unions staging demonstrations against privatization. He emphasized that the state electricity board was developed through decades of dedicated public investment and worker sacrifice under visionary Dravidian leadership to provide affordable electricity for agriculture and industry. Stalin demanded that Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami immediately withdraw all outsourcing tenders and fill existing technical vacancies through transparent, permanent state recruitment processes.
The intervention galvanized electrical engineer associations, technical unions, and unemployed youth networks across Tamil Nadu. Stalin affirmed that public utilities must function as welfare-oriented public services dedicated to social empowerment rather than profit-driven private enterprises.
