DMK president M.K. Stalin issued a resolute statement challenging the AIADMK government order prohibiting the opposition from utilizing the term Grama Sabha for its village outreach campaign. Stalin remarked that the ruling administration had become terrified after observing enthusiastic public participation and open anti-incumbency sentiments at We Reject AIADMK assemblies across rural districts. Rather than addressing genuine public grievances, the state administration resorted to bureaucratic restrictions to suppress opposition contact with village communities.
Stalin announced that the DMK would bypass administrative technicalities by conducting future outreach gatherings under the title Makkal Grama Sabha, meaning People Village Assembly. He asserted that no administrative authority or political intimidation could prevent the party from meeting citizens in village squares to discuss local welfare and governance. Stalin emphasized that genuine democracy derives its legitimacy from the consent and voices of the people, not from arbitrary government circulars designed to shield underperforming ministers.
The strategic announcement dismantled the state government attempt to derail the campaign, inspiring local party organizers across every district. Stalin reaffirmed that uninterrupted citizen consultation remains the cornerstone of democratic governance and grassroots political accountability.
