DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the arrest of key party leaders, including Karthik MLA, Payya Gounder, Thendral, and Thiravidamani, in Coimbatore district during ongoing Makkal Grama Sabha assemblies. Stalin asserted that the AIADMK administration under Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami had grown intensely anxious upon hearing the resounding We Reject AIADMK slogan echo across rural hamlets. He accused Municipal Administration Minister S.P. Velumani of deploying state police personnel and administrative intimidation to silence peaceful democratic assemblies in western Tamil Nadu.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK cadre and leadership have consistently resisted authoritarian coercion throughout their decades of political struggle. He stated that threats issued by ruling party ministers cannot disrupt the opposition party mass contact program or prevent ordinary citizens from voicing deep grievances regarding civic neglect, local corruption, and infrastructure deficits. Stalin declared that party organizers would break through all administrative hurdles to sustain the village outreach campaign continuously.
The arrests triggered vigorous protests across Coimbatore and neighboring industrial belts, drawing widespread public attention to village civic demands. Stalin reiterated that democratic assemblies remain an inviolable constitutional right belonging to the people of Tamil Nadu.
