DMK president M.K. Stalin appeared before a special court in Chennai in connection with six criminal defamation cases filed against him by the AIADMK government for criticizing ministerial performance. Speaking to the press following the court proceedings, Stalin pointed out that the Madras High Court had repeatedly quashed similar frivolous defamation complaints and issued stern advisories cautioning state authorities against misusing the public prosecutor office to stifle legitimate political discourse. Despite judicial warnings, the state administration persisted in filing unconstitutional charges.
Stalin declared that the DMK cannot be deterred, intimidated, or silenced by the abuse of state machinery or relentless court proceedings. He affirmed that the opposition will confront all defamation cases through the judicial process and continue discharging its democratic duty as the voice of the people. Rather than suppressing scrutiny, the government legal harassment will only accelerate opposition efforts to expose administrative corruption and policy failures across every rural village in Tamil Nadu.
Stalin reiterated that freedom of political expression is a protected constitutional right. He vowed that an incoming DMK government will respect democratic oversight and dismantle coercive practices.
