DMK president M.K. Stalin led a spirited Makkal Grama Sabha community assembly at Devarayapuram panchayat in the Thondamuthur assembly constituency of Coimbatore district. Held as part of the statewide campaign We Reject ADMK, the gathering witnessed immense participation from agriculturalists, rural women, and local youth who turned out to voice grievances against systemic administrative apathy. The constituency is represented by Local Administration Minister S.P. Velumani, whose tenure has faced extensive public scrutiny.
Residents presented representations highlighting acute civic challenges, including irregular drinking water distribution, unmaintained sewage lines, severe delays in local road repairs, and pervasive corruption in local body tenders. Stalin interacted directly with village attendees, personally receiving their petitions and reassuring them that a change of government would bring decisive relief. He observed that high-profile ministerial influence had failed to solve basic livelihood issues for ordinary residents.
Stalin affirmed that the overwhelming public turnout in Thondamuthur demonstrated that the people of Coimbatore were determined to reject misgovernance. He promised that a DMK administration will restore democratic transparency to local bodies, eradicate corruption, and ensure equitable development for all rural panchayats.
