DMK president M.K. Stalin addressed an evocative festive epistle to party brethren on the eve of Thai Pongal, describing the harvest celebration as an essential festival that affirms Tamil heritage and repels cultural hegemonies. Stalin urged the people of Tamil Nadu to celebrate the harvest occasion with enthusiasm as the true festival of Tamils, marking both Tamil New Year and Samathuva Pongal, a celebration founded on communal equality and social harmony.

Stalin emphasized that the cultural traditions of Tamil society are intrinsically rooted in secular values, rationalism, and gratitude toward nature and agricultural labor. He reminded party workers that defending regional linguistic identity and cultural autonomy against external impositions has always been a primary mission of the Dravidian movement.
