Taking into consideration, the advice from all quarters, paying heed to the continued protests by lakhs of farmers and the strong opposition from various states and political parties, the Union Govt must halt the implementation of farm laws immediately. 2/2
DMK president M.K. Stalin called upon the Union government to immediately halt the implementation of three controversial central farm laws, urging central authorities to heed extensive public feedback and widespread popular dissent. Stalin pointed out that hundreds of thousands of agriculturalists had been staging peaceful demonstrations along the borders of New Delhi and across numerous states for several weeks. He noted that agricultural experts, civic organizations, state administrations, and opposition parties had consistently expressed profound misgivings regarding the adverse economic consequences of the legislations.
Stalin emphasized that democratic governance requires listening attentively to the concerns of the primary producers of the nation food supply. He observed that enacting radical agrarian policy changes without genuine consultation with state governments and peasant federations violates cooperative federalism and threatens agricultural stability. The legislations, he argued, risk exposing vulnerable agrarian producers to corporate market forces without adequate statutory price guarantees.
Stalin reiterated the DMK full solidarity with the protesting peasant communities. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi administration to show statesmanship by suspending the disputed laws and engaging in open, empathetic dialogue to secure sustainable farm livelihoods across the country.
