I welcome the decision of the Supreme Court to stay the #FarmLaws in the cases filed by various parties including DMK.
This is a victory for farmers protesting across India.
I once again urge the Union Govt to commit to repealing the farm laws in the next Parliament Session.
DMK president M.K. Stalin officially welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court of India granting an interim stay on the implementation of three controversial central farm laws. The stay was ordered during hearings on a batch of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the agrarian legislations, including a petition filed by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Stalin termed the judicial intervention a significant moral and democratic victory for millions of steadfast farmers protesting peacefully across India.
Stalin emphasized that while the judicial stay provides immediate temporary relief, it does not substitute for executive accountability and legislative resolution. He pointed out that agricultural organizations across the country have consistently and unequivocally demanded the complete repeal of the three laws, rather than mere procedural pauses or governmental mediation committees. Stalin insisted that the fundamental concerns of agrarian livelihoods and market protection must be addressed directly by Parliament.
Stalin once again called upon the Union government to shed its obstinate stance and make an unambiguous commitment to formally introduce repeal bills in the upcoming budget session of Parliament. He reaffirmed that the DMK will persistently support the agrarian movement until justice is secured.
