DMK president M.K. Stalin urged the Tamil Nadu government to immediately sanction and disburse disaster compensation of thirty thousand rupees per acre to farmers whose standing crops were submerged by unseasonal Margazhi downpours. Stalin highlighted the acute distress suffered by delta and coastal farmers who were preparing for harvest, only to see months of hard labor and heavy financial investments destroyed overnight by unexpected floods.
Stalin criticized the state government for its sluggish, bureaucratic approach of initiating delayed damage enumeration rather than delivering prompt relief. He pointed out that the mystery surrounding the six hundred crore rupees promised following Cyclone Nivar remained unresolved, as thousands of affected cultivators never received their promised compensations. Stalin asserted that delaying relief assessments while farmers face crippling debts and imminent bankruptcy demonstrates total administrative insensitivity toward the agrarian community across rural Tamil Nadu.
Stalin demanded that Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami release emergency financial relief directly to farmers bank accounts without cumbersome procedural hurdles. He pledged that the DMK will persistently fight for agrarian justice and comprehensive disaster relief to protect Tamil Nadu farming families through every constitutional means.
