DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly condemned the AIADMK government for abruptly closing Raja Muthiah Medical College and evicting resident students from hostels instead of resolving their legitimate grievances through constructive dialogue. Medical students had undertaken prolonged peaceful protests demanding that the institution, which was formally taken over by the state government, charge tuition fees on par with other government medical colleges rather than exorbitant private fees.
Stalin criticized Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for using heavy-handed administrative repression against future doctors fighting for fair educational access. He pointed out that forcing students from rural and middle-class backgrounds to pay exorbitant private-level annual tuition fees despite state management violates educational equity. Stalin demanded that the government immediately reopen the college and hostels, revoke punitive measures, and issue an executive order fixing tuition fees strictly according to the official government college fee structure across all courses.
The statement galvanized widespread solidarity among student organizations, parents, and healthcare professionals across Tamil Nadu. Stalin reaffirmed the DMK unwavering dedication to affordable, socially inclusive higher education, pledging to permanently resolve fee disparities upon assuming government power in the state.
