DMK president M.K. Stalin strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government for systematically undermining the medical education aspirations of poor and rural students through the imposition of NEET. Stalin highlighted central maneuvering aimed at obstructing the Puducherry government progressive policy of granting ten percent horizontal reservation in medical admissions for government school students. He condemned this persistent interference as a direct assault on state autonomy and the constitutional principles of affirmative action.
Stalin called upon Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to remain exceptionally vigilant in safeguarding the 7.5 percent reservation enacted for government school students in Tamil Nadu. He cautioned that administrative complacency or legal negligence by the state government could allow central authorities or litigants to dilute the quota. Stalin emphasized that state schooling students from underprivileged backgrounds face severe socio-economic hurdles and require robust institutional protection to pursue medical careers and professional growth.
The statement reinforced the DMK uncompromising struggle against centralized entrance examinations. Stalin reaffirmed that an incoming DMK administration will relentlessly pursue the permanent abolition of NEET to restore state control over professional educational admissions across Tamil Nadu.
