DMK president M.K. Stalin, joined by party members of Parliament, dispatched a formal memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding India diplomatic responsibilities at the United Nations Human Rights Council forty-sixth session. The joint petition urged the Union government to advocate for referring Sri Lankan wartime atrocities and alleged human rights violations to the International Criminal Court for an impartial inquiry. Stalin underscored that true reconciliation in Sri Lanka cannot occur without accountability, transitional justice, and international scrutiny for victimized Tamil civilians.
In addition, the representation called upon the Indian government to intervene diplomatically to ensure the comprehensive implementation of the 13th Amendment to the Sri Lankan Constitution. Stalin emphasized that preserving and strengthening political devolution, land rights, linguistic parity, and police powers for Northern and Eastern provincial councils is indispensable for securing permanent equal rights, dignity, and autonomy for the island Tamil population.
The initiative reflected the DMK sustained commitment to the welfare and political rights of Eelam Tamils across international platforms. Stalin reaffirmed that Tamil Nadu expects the central government to take a principled, courageous stance on global human rights forums.
