DMK president M.K. Stalin led a legislative walkout and announced the boycott of the Governor address, declaring that the DMK chose the court of the people over the assembly chamber. Stalin criticized the Governor for failing to act upon detailed corruption dossiers submitted by the DMK against Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, and various cabinet ministers. He stated that turning a blind eye to substantiated graft charges shielded institutional corruption within the state government.
Stalin highlighted the Governor prolonged procrastination on the state cabinet recommendation to release the seven Rajiv Gandhi assassination convicts under Article 161 of the Constitution. He argued that keeping the cabinet decision in limbo violated constitutional norms and undermined state executive authority. Stalin declared that when the constitutional head of the state aids corrupt leadership and ignores regional resolutions, democratic representatives must register unequivocal opposition by walking out of the legislature.
The decisive protest underscored the DMK steadfast commitment to constitutional propriety, state autonomy, and institutional integrity. Stalin affirmed that public accountability would be achieved through the upcoming democratic assembly elections.
