DMK president M.K. Stalin marked World Cancer Day by paying rich tribute to global oncologists, medical researchers, and notably the pioneering oncologist Dr. V. Shanta of the Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai. Stalin reflected on the historic capacity of humanity to overcome grave health threats through scientific rigor, medical innovation, and compassionate service. He honored Dr. Shanta dedicated lifetime of affordable oncology care, which brought world-class treatment within the reach of ordinary and underprivileged citizens across India.
Stalin emphasized that combating cancer requires fostering universal awareness, promoting early diagnostic screening, and dispelling pervasive social fear surrounding the disease. He called for collective community efforts to communicate the vital message that cancer can be effectively prevented through healthy lifestyles and cured when detected in its early stages. Stalin noted that advancing public healthcare infrastructure and ensuring accessible cancer screening in rural primary healthcare centers remain essential obligations of modern governance.
The thoughtful message resonated widely across the medical fraternity and healthcare advocacy groups. Stalin reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to expanding affordable healthcare infrastructure and supporting comprehensive public health programs throughout Tamil Nadu.
