DMK president M.K. Stalin questioned the sudden announcement of a cooperative farm loan waiver by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, noting that the ruling government had previously obtained a stay from the Supreme Court against a Madras High Court order directing waivers for all farmers. Stalin asked whether this belated move represented genuine enlightenment or merely an opportunistic electoral calculation ahead of assembly polls. He emphasized that comprehensive farm loan relief had been a consistent and long-standing demand championed by the DMK.
Stalin insisted that the announcement must not remain a deceptive pre-election promise but must be executed immediately through transparent government orders and adequate fiscal allocations. In addition to agricultural relief, Stalin demanded that the state administration urgently waive educational loans taken by struggling students and poor families. He pointed out that thousands of young graduates and rural households faced immense financial distress due to pandemic disruptions and mounting debt burdens.
The statement underscored the DMK continuous advocacy for agrarian relief and student welfare across Tamil Nadu. Stalin reaffirmed that an incoming DMK administration would implement comprehensive debt relief and robust economic support for farmers and students alike.
